How To Take An Honest Self-Inventory to Reduce Your Stress

Step 1: HABIT STACK

In order for this to work, you have to actually do it. Pick something you do every day (preferably in the morning) that you can do this process while you are doing that. It will take you less than 5 minutes so it can be while you brush your teeth, do your hair and/or makeup, it works best if you are in a mirror.

Step 2: CHECK IN

Ask yourself the simple question, “How are you doing today, really?” Know that it will be your conditioned response to tell yourself you are fine, we bypass that by adding “really” onto this question. Answer yourself honestly, without judgment or shame - just say what you are feeling.

Step 3: SCALE YOUR EMOTIONS

On a scale of 1-5 with 1 being your least stressed, most peaceful and 5 being you are ready to light your business and life on fire - rate where you are. Again, without judgment. You will start to see trends here and it’s a good indicator when you are at a 3 or 4 to start doing something so you don’t get to a 5.

Step 4: NAME YOUR DESIRES

You know how you feel and where you are on the scale with the obvious goal of coming back down to a 1 - now ask yourself, How do I want to feel? What do I need to feel that way? Again, answer honestly. The key here is to speak what you want so that your brain starts to formulate solutions.

Step 5: CREATE A SOLUTION

Now that you know how you feel, how you want to feel, and what you believe you need to feel that way - this is your opportunity to take action. Create and bring some sort of solution that will reduce you on that scale or sustain that level 1 when you get there. YOu might discover as a mom of 3 running a house and a business that what you want is a night in a hotel by yourself - it might feel impossible, make it happen anyways.

You can see this process takes you from ignoring yourself completely to paying attention to what you are feeling, asking what you need and then also giving yourself something you actually want.

Repeating this process creates more happiness, fulfillment and peace - which we all need more of as ambitious women out here chasing our dreams.
