How to stop bringing your business emotions into your family time

Separating family time and work time is tough when you have a lot on your plate.


Especially as mothers we always have the goal of more peace and presence, but we want to excel in our businesses too.


It’s a lot to carry and sometimes feels like it’s just too much - which then ripples into how we are treating the people we love.


If you don’t want to be emotionally reactive towards your family because of your stress and overwhelm this is what you need to do.


Shut down & Transition


Before jumping into another role, wrap up and shut down the role that you are in, see what tabs feel the most urgent and close them. After you close those tabs, dedicate a period of time where you can transition from one role to the next. Even if that is 5 minutes in your office before you go back out in your house if you are working from home or using your commute to pick up kids.


Express Yourself


You can’t suppress your emotions, you have to move through them. Utilize some sort of outlet that helps you to express and process emotions like journaling, venting to someone who is available to listen, getting outside, or moving your body.


Get to The Root


If your work is a constant cause of stress and overwhelm, it’s not working for you. It’s time to make some necessary changes that you are likely ignoring. If you can learn to better manage your processes, team, boundaries and expectations things can get lighter.


Build Your Toolbox


Stress is inevitable and if you want your business to be set up for sustainability and your life for longevity, you have to learn how to manage stress. With stress being something that is based upon perception of what we can handle, the more tools you have - the more capable you feel.
